Caption - Original Evening Post caption reads: 'The historic cottage at the entrance to Vogel House, the Prime Minister's official residence in Lower Hutt, which is being upgraded by the Ministry of Works and Development. The house has been repainted, a few of the older boards replaced, and general maintenance work carried out. Although the cottage is one of the oldest in the area, there is little known about its history, and architect Mr John Rowe of the Ministry's Wellington district office, would welcome any information local residents may have about it.'
