- Description
A square-based embossed pewter tea caddy, with curved shoulders, a hinged lid surmounted by a seated figure. Designs on the four sides a pagoda, a seated man playing a percussion instrument, another seated man and two figures playing percussion instruments. All four sides show figures in Chinese landscapes.

Provenance: A note inside the caddy reads 'Given to my Grandfather, John Johnson, in 1844, by the captain of a ship trading from the East. He obtained it in China about 8 years before that'
