Description: Maker(s) not identified. Statue of a standing woman, a crown on her head, wearing a long flowing patterned garment.The figure represents a goddess and has a bindi on her forehead. Likely a Japanese-manufactured figurine of the Chinese seafarer's goddess Ma Zu Po or Mazu. The figure may be a Buddhist or Daoist one. It may be the Chinese seafarer's goddess Ma Zu Po, or Mazu, the Daoist Queen of Heaven and Holy Mother. Seafarers prayed or sacrificed to this goddess for fine weather and safe conduct.
