- Description
A leader of the Russian Orthodox Church commands Satan to leave the souls of the members of Pussy Riot. As an after-thought, he also asks for him to remove the bullets from the 20,000 Syrians killed. Context: Members of Pussy Riot, a Russian feminist punk-rock collective, were arrested and sentenced to two years in remote prison camps after an impromptu punk performance at Moscow's main cathedral in February 2012 in protest against President Vladimir Putin. Russia's arms trade with Syria has fuelled concerns that Moscow is supplying President Assad with weapons that are being used against protesters taking part in an uprising against him.
