View into a clearing in Tongatapu, with palm trees and other vegetation. A Tongan man is carrying fruit tied to a stick, on the left. Two people are seated near an open-sided dwelling, centre and right. In the distance is the building used for burials. The scene was recorded during the visit by Captain Cook, 1773-1774
No original drawing for this print is known to have survived. Amsterdam Island is now an obsolete name and the island has reverted to its original Tongan name, Tongatapu.
