- Description
A caricature of Geoffrey Palmer, who was elected Member of Parliament for Christchurch Central in 1979 and became Deputy Leader of the Opposition in 1983. From 1984 until 1990 he occupied a number of ministerial posts, including Minister of Justice, Attorney-General, Leader of the House, Minister for the Environment, Deputy Prime Minister and for a short while Prime Minister of New Zealand. When he retired from politics in 1990 Sir Geoffrey became Professor of Law at Victoria University and the University of Iowa. Sir Geoffrey has held many important posts and received a number of honorary degrees from various countries.More recently he has been involved in law consultancy.
