Oc Class steam locomotive NZR 458, 2-8-0 type, with three men. The man on the left is not identified, but B Hughes is standing in the driver's cab, and P Purcell is standing on the ground beside the cab. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber. Oc class locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia for the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (maker's no 15055/96), as WMR no 16. At the end of 1908 the company was purchased by the Government, and this engine was renumbered NZR 'Oc' 458. Written off in July 1930.
