Description: Oc Class steam locomotive NZR 458, 2-8-0 type, with three men. The man on the left is not identified, but B Hughes is standing in the driver's cab, and P Purcell is standing on the ground beside the cab. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber. Names from the original print in Pa1-q-101 (Godber Album vol 108, p 39) Original print at Pa1-q-101 (Godber album vol 108, p 39) Oc class locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia for the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (maker's no 15055/96), as WMR no 16. At the end of 1908 the company was purchased by the Government, and this engine was renumbered NZR 'Oc' 458. Written off in July 1930.
