- Description
Two Maori activists stand before a pole which has had the carved head from the top smashed down. They are aghast that someone should be so rude as to do this sacriligious act to a symbol of their sovereignty. But they realise that the symbol of their sovereignty could indeed be damaged in this way in the same way that in 1844 Hone Heke chopped down the British flagstaff in Kororareka.
