Head and shoulders frontal portrait of Frederick Edward Maning, aged 30, probably painted in 1841. He is shown clean-shaven with short curly hair and formal clothing
The original drawing was sent by John Webster, Maning's closest Hokianga friend to John Logan Campbell in 1900. Webster claimed the picture had been done in Hobart before Maning came to New Zealand.
