Group of Tongan and Fijian men, women and children photographed ca 1882-1884 in front of a house in Fiji, probably by a member of the crew of HMS Espiegle. The location is described in the original caption as "Lima Lima".

HMS Espiegle undertook a number of cruises in Melanesia, Micronesia, Western Polynesia and New Guinea in the period 1882-1885. Members of the crew received instruction from John Paine of Sydney, Australia, in the use of photographic equipment, and took a number of photographs on the voyages.
