- Description
The cartoon shows a row of people in bed - all smoking and looking exceedingly unhealthy; the first three represent the 'public purse', 'politics' and 'Task Force' and the fourth is Don Brash, leader of the Task Force that was set to work out how New Zealand could catch up economically with Australia. Don Brash smokes a cigar and declares that 'NZ is on an unsustainable fiscal track'.. The public don't get it'.. 'Voters are not only venal, but ignorant'... Refers to the government's pledge to have New Zealand catch up economically with Australia by 2025 - not the 'ignorant' voters.
