Description

The cartoon shows a huge excavator with 'Nat Park Mining Inc' painted on its side which is digging up trees by their roots. In the forefront of the cartoon a smiling Conservation Minister Nick Smith throws out his arms in a gesture of good will and reassurance and says 'Honestly, by the time they've finished you'll hardly know they've been here...' Refers to the government's plans to undertake mining in some of New Zealand's national parks in order to help the economy. Conservationists are up in arms as are many New Zealanders.
