Gumdiggers' New Year festival at Houhora, 1911, photographed in January 1911 by Arthur Northwood of Kaitaia, and published in the New Zealand Graphic, 18 January 1911. A group of Dalmatian gumdiggers is shown with a pig which had been cooked on a hangi they had commissioned from the Maori community, a number of whom may also be seen in the group.
