Description

Shows a man sitting in a chair reading a newspaper that has the headline 'smacking illegal'. He wonders why people have to smack when there are so may alternatives. His two children are gagged and strung up on the wall by their wrists and the baby is in a cage. Refers to the 'Family First' lobby group's referendum which asks people to vote 'yes' or 'no' to whether a smack should criminalise a parent. The words of the referendum read 'Should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offense in New Zealand?" Sue Bradford's bill, a repeal of (s59 of the Crimes Act 1960) which was intended to prevent the so-called defense of 'physical force' has been the subject of a great deal of opposition and misunderstanding.
