Mr Te One Haeriti , 86, one of the remaining elders of the Ngati Te Kanawa and Maniapoto tribes, died on Thursday at Marakopa, Waikato. Te One in his youth accompanied the late Mr Mace, the surveyor who surveyed the Waitomo Caves in the early 1880s.
