Unpublished history, describing the establishment of the company, its Circular Saw Shipping Line and Pacific island trade interests. Includes references to Handley Bathurst Sterndale and `Bully' Hayes, the `seige' of the Suwarrow fort built by Sterndale, and the 1890 Pacific cruise by Robert Louis Stevenson on the `Janet Nicol'. The history finishes in 1902.
