Description: Uncaptioned photographs of unidentified individuals and family groups, and views of Wellington, taken circa 1858 to 1870, and compiled by an unidentified person. Views of Wellington are from Mulgrave Street, Hobson Street, and from the Rev Stock's residence on The Terrace. Two portraits of Mrs Henry Roberts, one with a man, and young woman, possibly her husband and daughter. Views of Wellington are similar or identical to those in J C Crawford Album 3 (PA1-f-019). Description: Cabinets cards, prints, and photo postcards of portraits and Wellington scenes, taken by various photographers, circa 1870 to 1900s. Consists of: -1 large mounted portrait of William Leonard Williams, taken by The Falk Studios. Sydney, circa 1890s. -1 tintype of a portrait of a young man -3 small prints from the 'New Zealand First Series', Westminster Tobacco co, London of Milford Sound, Queen Street, Auckland, and Sunset, Lake Wakatipu, circa 1928 - a carte de visite of a sailing ship, with the words 'from Lady Thompson' on the reverse, circa 1870s - a photo-mechanical print of A R Wallace with 'Webster collection' stamped on the back. - John Enys outside the Enys house in Cornwall, England, with another man and two women, August 1907. 'Webster collection" is stamped on the back. - photograph of a woman holding a large bouquest of flowers standing with an older man amongst a group of spectators, captioned "John D Enys" and stamped "Webster collection". - four young women and girls dressed in veils for a wedding, identified on the back as the wedding of Captain and Mrs Gordon, Opawa, 1871, with the four being Amy Jones (sister of the bride), Isabel, Bullock, and 'forgotten name' [see note below] -13 cabinet cards, consisting of portraits of John D Enys (3 identical); Kenneth Gresson, 1897 (as a boy), aunt Fanny Hester; James King (1752-1785, copy of painting); Mr Melland, 1890; an unidentified girl, unidentified man; a dog called 'Pokeno'; and two photographs of Miramar, one of horses and hounds labelled 'Wellington Harriers at Miramar. H D Crawford, Master in middle" and one of the view from the Crawford family house captioned "Evans Bay from Mirarmar house when first built", - 4 photo postcards of portraits of Victoria Cross winners labelled "S Mitchell VC HMS Harrier"; "Surgeon-General William J Manley"; "Lt Col A Pickard VC RA"; and "Lt Col W Temple VC AMS" - portrait of Sir John Hall, circa 1880s, with chains of office around his neck. - mounted circular print of an unidentified boy, taken by Morris photographers, Dunedin. Also includes an envelope labeled "Dunedin trip 1882" with newspaper clippings documenting a trip on bicycle from Christchurch to Dunedin by Joseph Foxley Norris, and a small card, blank except for the script "Dr & Mrs Pomare January 7th 1903" [date of their marriage]. A note on the back of the image of the wedding party of the Gordons' wedding relates that they were drowned a few weeks later when their ship 'The Blue Jacket' disappeared. Further research in Papers Past by the Library has identified the couple as Marian Louisa Jones and William Robert Gordon, married 18 January 1872. (Lyttelton Times 19 Jan 1872) Mr Gordon was first mate on the ship 'Glenmark' . The ship was wrecked in a squall circa 6 February 1872.
