The collection consists largely of correspondence, Frederick's own writings, and printed and published matter including serials, art and music programmes and catalogues, newsclippings, and journal articles. Also includes printed and holograph music scores, photos, some personal and family documents, and a series of items reflecting Page's interest in China. Collection has been divided into a Frederick Page sub-group and an Evelyn Page sub-group. On the whole, it contains material collected by and relating to Frederick Page.

Frederick Page was born at Lyttelton in 1905. He studied piano from an early age in Christchurch, and graduated Mus. B. from Canterbury University College in 1933. He married Evelyn Polson in 1939. He made a number of study visits during his life to the UK, Europe and China and became friends with a number of notable composers and musicians. Family moved to Wellington in 1936. Frederick was appointed Professor of music at Victoria University in 1967. In later life he wrote a regular column for the 'Listener'.

Description: Folder contains three typescript articles by Charles Brasch sent to Fred and Evelyn Page. The articles are undated and entitled `The Blockhouse', `The Trance' and `Foreigners' (which has Charles Brasch's name annotated at the end of the article.) Also includes an envelope addressed to F J Page in Christchurch, with a 1940 post stamp. This may, or may not, be the original envelope that the Brasch's articles were sent in. The envelope has a pencil annotation with the name of John Henry Erle Schroder and a note of two articles by Brasch. Their are further annotations on the reverse of the envelope and the sender's address for Brasch in London. Quantity: 1 folder(s).
