Includes views of the Auckland Harbour Bridge under construction, Auckland City centre, Tauranga, Raglan, Waihi Gorge, Days Bay, North Island mountains, and the giant kauri tree Tane Mahuta in Waipoua Forest.

Description: Colour transparency slides of Auckland scenes, taken ca mid to late 1950s and 1960s by Peter Vaizey Conley. This set is chiefly of Waitemata Harbour, Auckland waterfront between Westhaven Marina and Mechanics Bay, and a few views of the city. Waterfront and harbour views include two images of Auckland Harbour Bridge and views of ships include the Mariposa and the Oriana, and [Devonport?] ferry. Views of city buildings include Auckland Railway Station and Ferry Terminal Building. Landscape views show beaches, including Long Bay, one view of a waterfall near Papakura, and a landscaped [public?] garden, probably Point Erin Park. Miscellaneous images include a Volkswagen car parked at Point Erin Park, Westhaven, and a National Airways Corporation airplane on the tarmac at an unidentified airport. All are unidentified but the photographer describes this set as 'Marsden Point', 'Kerikeri', Wellington trip', 'Auckland', and 'Fairmont'. Contains: Several views of energy-generating complexes, including Marsden Point oil refinery, and a large dam. Two exterior views of the Leopard Inn, Marine Parade, Napier. One photograph of a sign at Karangahake gold camp. Two waterfront scenes, probably Auckland, showing large ships docked at wharfs, and a small seaplane. Chiefly views of mountains in the North Island, including Mount (Egmont) Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu, and Mount Ngauruhoe and the exterior of a lodge at one of these locations. There are also several of mountain ranges, probably in the South Island. All are unidentified but the photographer has described this set as 'Picton to Days Bay', 'Muritai [Road, Lower Hutt?] to Wellington Airport', 'Hamilton to Ngaruawahia', 'Waihi Gorge to Tauranga', 'Whakatane to Rotorua', 'Russell to Bay of Islands,' 'Wairoa', and 'North Auckland to Ohope'. Includes: Views of a harbour, taken onboard a ship, possibly showing the Cook Strait and Malborough Sounds from the inter-island ferry. There are several views of an unidentified bay, possibly Days Bay, Eastbourne. Two slides of geothermal activity, Wairekei, Taupo District. Miscellaneous images show an unidentified woman, sitting on the bonnet of a Volkswagen motorcar, and standing on volcanic rock formations at an unidentified ocean bay.
