Contains an account of travelling from Los Negros Island to Manila via Biak, the Caroline Islands, and Leyte, as well as extensive description of war-torn Manila. Franks description includes the ongoing conflict with the retreating Japanese forces, the destruction of buildings and other scenes of desolation, and the massacre of Filipino civilians at Intramuros walled city.
