Photographs include formal and casual group photographs of New Zealand and Fijian military units, and many of the photographs are annotated with the names of the individuals as well as details relating to events associated with the images. These include a set of photographs relating to military operations in Bougainville, one of which is inscribed "Alex Marsh and I are returned from Mawaraka Point. [...] wireless & gear, aerial and chains on jeep. On this job poshumous V. C. was awarded to Fijian [Sefanaia Sukanaivalu]."
