Photographs taken in the Northland Region by the Northwood Brothers, circa 1910s
The first two images show Maori children having lessons; the first one showing a Pakeha woman teaching sewing to a group of girls, one of whom is using a sewing machine; the second one showing a Pakeha man in a suit teaching geography to a group of boys and girls, using a pointer with a map of the world on an easel.
Other images show flax harvesting, felling kauri, and a timber camp. At the timber camp one view shows a man in a doorway calling the work gang with a cow horn; the next shows a large group gathered, with the man holding the horn.
