Interviews with long-term residents (three generations) from the following regions of New Zealand: Wairarapa, Wellington and Northland, East Coast, Taranaki, West Coast-Hokitika, Upper Moutere/Nelson, South Canterbury, Central Otago, King Country, Buller, Southland/Gore, Stewart Island, Chatham Islands. Interviews include brief life histories and word lists.
A radio series Dunkum Purlers (Dinkum Puirlers) was presented and produced by Dinah Priestly using extracts from the Coastal and Inland Voices interviews.
A compilation of excerpts from the interviews has been created. Interviewees included: Ernie Cook (West Coast, Hokitia), Peggy Wilson (Stewart Island), Stan Chittock (Southland, Gore), Keith Martin (South Canterbury), Cynthia Clouston (Upper Moutere, Nelson), Jo Boulton (Wellington), Marion Gibson (East Coast), Mere Ruwhiu (East Coast), Ruth Wallis (Taranaki), Doug Coxhead (Taranaki), Alice Evans (Northland), Kerewai Conrad (Northland), Tony Simpson, Harry Orsman. There are also compilations of excerpts for eight of the regional projects.
