Description: Labour Member of Parliament for Sydenham, Mabel Howard, holding the two pairs of women's bloomers she produced in Parliament on 22 September, 1954, during the second reading of the Merchandise Marks Bill. She was illustrating her argument that garments marked OS (oversize) vary in dimension, and calling for labels to carry unit of length measurements. Photograph taken by an unidentified staff photographer for the Evening Post, 23 September, 1954.
