C. & A. Amendments' outside the 'New National (Coalition crossed out) Forge' or 'Legacy of the Forbes-Coates regime'. Extended Title - The determination to weld all groups representing the more responsible vote in town and country into one party was expressed at a meeting of the Doiminion Council of the New Zealand National Party by the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. A bride representing the 'state medical service' and groom representing the 'B.M.A.' (British Medical Association) walk down the aisle of the church; a grinning Prime Minister, Michael Joseph Savage, follows them and threatens the groom with a gun. The groom looks furious as he tries to protect his backside. The wedding guests are laughing. Context - In the 1935 election, following the hardships of the Great Depression the Labour Party won a massive victory, gaining 53 seats to the coalition's 19.
