Description: Unidentified Maori group alongside a meeting house in the Maori Court of the New Zealand International Exhibition in Christchurch, 1906-7. This building was made up of parts of Rahurahu meeting house from Orakei Korako, together with other carvings from the Dominion Museum. Photographer unidentified. Note from `Carved Maori Houses of Western and Northern Areas of New Zealand' by William J Phillipps, 1955, page 192-4 reads: "Somewhere about the turn of the century this house [Rahurahu] fell into disrepair, and was later acquired by the Dominion Museum. In the year 1906, when erecting a superior house in the Maori Court at the Christchurch Exhibition, the carvings of this building were used by Augustus Hamilton, together with certain other carvings in the Dominion Museum."
