Collection includes:
Photographs, chiefly taken by Frank Hurley, but including some by Lees, during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917). Shows Sir Ernest Shackleton and party in Antarctica and Elephant Island, and after rescue by the Chilean Navy.
Photographs of of the Ford factory, Seaview Road, Lower Hutt, during the Second World War. Two photographs show the women workers in the cateteria; one photograph is of army trucks lined up in front of the factory; two photographs show two types of army trucks assembled at the factory.
