Donald McLeod has been a fan and collector of New Zealand music since the 1980s. He is the owner of Pinenut Records Hub online shop and record label which specialises in selling and publishing and re-issuing albums by New Zealand acts.

The EP was a test lathe cut for a proposed live mini-LP, first as a collecters' edition then for general release, through Pinenut Records. EP was cut at Jesse Wilde Records, Auckland.
