Description: A programme for the anniversary fete to be held on 24 January 1848. The British coat of arms is at top centre (lion and unicorn). The programme lists aquatic sports (sailing, rowing, canoe race); horse races including a hurdle race, hack race, mule race, pony race, and Maori horse race. There were also a foot race, jingling match, jumping in sacks, climbing a greasy pole, catching a soap-necked goose and grinning through a collar. The second day included a hurdle race and a hack race for horses beaten on the previous day; and a Maori war dance. The notice is signed by secretary and treasurer Mr J H Wallace. "Early settlers' reunion" in the 'Evening Post', 14 December 1912, page 3 reminisces about the games played at these early events on Te Aro Flat. The game of "Grinning through a collar" (and some predictable consequences) is described in "Canterbury rejoicings; grinning through a horse collar", 'Hawke's Bay Herald', 25 July 1863, page 4. Quantity: 1 b&w art print(s). Physical Description: Letterpress, 354 x 196 mm.

Description: A sheet of 32 reward tickets each with a different Biblical quotation (unsourced). Each ticket has the numbers: "One", "Two", "Five" or "Ten" in the lower left corner, indicating the amount of the "reward". This may be "an early printing by one of the Mission Presses" (Vendor's suggestion). It is unclear when these tickets were issued, and who the printer was, but newspaper advertisements for Sunday School reward tickets appear around 1863-1905. The Mission presses were operating earlier - up to the 1860s. Quantity: 1 b&w art print(s). Physical Description: Letterpress on light card, 225 x 144 mm.
