Wright, Frank, 1860-1923

Artist, born Nottingham, member of family of lace designers. Emigrated to NZ with mother and younger brother in 1877. Exhibited from 1885 with ASA, took pupils from 1888 at "Wright's Studio". With brother, prepared the book "New Zealand: Painted by F. & W. Wright" (1908). Mainly known for his landscapes in watercolour. Other great interest was music; was member of Savage Club, chairman of Auckland Liedertafel and one of highly regarded Waiata Quartet.
