Description: Reminiscences were recorded at an interview conducted on tape between Kilpatrick and Ray Grover (Turnbull Library) and Len Richardson (Canterbury University) on 24 Jul 1978. Kilpatrick recounts his life, union activities, political development, changes in ideological attitudes as well as his association with prominent unionists and politicians in New Zealand and Australia. Description: Oral history project examining the stories of nine of workers involved in the industrial dispute between the Meat Workers’ Union and Talley’s/AFFco between 2010 and circa 2017. Interviews were conducted by Ross Webb with interviewees: Roger Middlemiss, Graham Cooke, Hilton Rohe, Peter Amato, Eric Mischefski, Daphne Wharehinga and Loncey Crawford (joint interview recordings), Michael Paltridge, and Darien Fenton. Interviews cover interviewee personal histories, relationship with unions, and their experiences of the labour disputes in Wairoa. Project received Award in Oral History funding from Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage in 2017.
