Third son of Sir William Blackett, fifth Baronet. Arrived at Auckland in the clipper yacht 'Albatross' (of which he was the owner) in 1841. Living in Auckland & Bay of Islands 1841-1843. By 1846 moved to Official Bay, then in the same year to St George's Bay, Auckland. Married twice; (1) Maria, cousin of W. C. Cotton (she died in childbirth August 1847), (2) Miss Emily Cockcroft/Cockcraft, second daughter of Major Cockcraft of the 58th Regiment on 18 March 1852 at St Paul's Church, Auckland. His house and garden were considered the finest in Auckland Province. Left New Zealand early 1856, and visited again in 1860, but appears to have settled in England.
