Description: Comprises a page of tin labels, outline of the `Hedleian Museum of Natural History' (1942); CAC card; verse composed by Jansen, Bible notes, a Chinese script letter, application for permit for transportation of goods to Kong Chuen Hospital (1941) and notes on Chinese history made during Jansen's internment (1942-1945); also, a circular to all British subjects resident in the Canton Consular District no 1 (1949) Jansen was interned on Hornam Island shortly after Pearl Harbour and stayed there for the rest of the war. Description: Contains Elwyn George Jansen's passport for the period 1946-1955 and a poem written by Anne Lilburn, a Presbyterian missionary nurse, during internment in Canton in 1941-1945 which was given by Lilburn to Jansen. Also contains papers of E H Langford including a small amount of correspondence consisting of two letters concerning railways matters, a letter from M J Savage dated Feb 1937 thanking Langford for his letter and a letter from Walter Nash dated March 1955 thanking Langford for reports supplied; his passport; a share certificate for `New Zealand Labour Newspapers Limited', 1946; a certificate dated Dec 1945 showing that Langford had flown the Indian Ocean by the `Kangaroo air service'; a card showing that Langford had been appointed a Justice of the Peace, 1943; New Zealand Education Department certificate of proficiency, 1910 and other miscellaneous material.
