Duff, Alison, 1914-2000

Sculptor. Born in Invercargill; studied sculpture under F A Shurrock, Canterbury College of Art for three years. Went to Sydney to continue studies at East Sydney Technical College (now National Art School of Australia). Completed her diploma in 1938. Returned to work in Sculpture Court of NZ Centennial Exhibition, then returned to Australia to become head of the Sculpture Department, Hobart Technical College for seven years, then taught at East Sydney Technical College for five years. Returned to New Zealand and taught art at Auckland Girls' Grammar for two years. From then on a full-time sculptor. Exhibited from 1938 onwards.
