Description: Headed `Extract from the Banffshire journal - Nov 19th' with handwritten subtitle, `A Banffshire man's excursion in New Zealand', this is J B Henry's journal on his visit to New Zealand in 1895, the first part to 19 Nov 1895 entitled `A Banffshire man's excursion to New Zealand', the second, from 19 Nov 1895, `A MacDuff man's excursion to New Zealand'. Henry describes his visit to New Zealand, from his arrival at Dunedin and travelling through Lumsden to the Fiordland region where he visited Te Anau, Milford Sound, and Wakatipu. His travels involved the trek to Milford Sound. He description includes the party's daily routine, the birds they came across, the roadmen working on widening a track from Milford Sound to the Sutherland Falls and meeting wih Donald Sutherland.
