Description: The base map was one provided by the Department of Lands and Survey for use by surveyors when land was in the process of being subdivided. Includes a declaration to be completed by the surveyor and a Justice of the Peace. The base map has been used show the subdivisions and streets in Khandallah between the Wellington - Manawatu Railway and roads once named as Victoria, Gordon, McKenzie and Lochiel, also Mona Crescent. Description: A base map of the plan of the subdivision of Whangaimoana estate to be sold by public auction has been used to list the buyers of various lots, some with prices in pounds sterling and others with acreages. This information appears on headed notepaper of W.B. Chennells & Co. mounted on the reverse of the map. Names include Eli, Holmes Warren, Heckler, J. Graham, Gillier, J. Iorns, T. Kennedy, Pilmer, P. Dransfield. The first of the three base maps shows lots 1 to 26 in the area from Palliser Bay to Lake Onoke to Tauranganui Stream.
