Newson, Geoffrey Gillard, 1917-2002

Double-bass player of Wellington, foundation player of the National Orchestra of which he became music administrator, and he performed with the Alex Lindsay String Orchestra. He was an administrator for Broadcasting, as well as being involved with opera and in a great amount of musical activities either as a performer, organiser or administrator. Born 4 Nov 1917, died 7 Feb 2002. Obituary Evening post 21 Feb 2002.
