Description: Most of the photographs date from 1975 to 1987. During this period Kauraka Kauraka attended the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji, the University of Papua New Guinea, the University of Hawaii, and was associated with the Betela Dance Troup which toured throughout the Pacific. Campus life and activities at the universities, and the dance troup are well recorded. There are some photographs from the late 1960s when he attended Northland College, and the early 1970s when he was a student teacher in New Zealand. Most of the other images are of the Cook Islands and cover particular people, events, schools and school children, daily life and some craft activities. There are also a number of copies of historical photographs relating to the Cook Islands which include photographs from the archives of administrative records for Manihiki and Rakahanga. One sequence of photographs records a trip to Japan Arrangement: Negatives at 35mm, 32666 to 35mm, 33266.
