Ballroom dancing club in Victoria Street, Wellington, opened in the mid 1940s by proprieter Jimmy James. The first of New Zealand's dance endurance contests took place here in April 1957.

Description: Photographs relating to the dance band scene in New Zealand in the 1930s and 1940s, largely associated with Lauri Paddi (aka Laurence George Malvern Paddy] and various bands. Many of the images are signed by musicians in the bands, not all the signatures being legible. Names have been listed where possible. Musicians with signatures Ian H Pitcaithly, W O Pritchard, and Jeffrey Madden, are probably the same as musicians listed on a poster for the Auckland Peter Pan Orchestra (Nin Pitcaithly, Billy Pritchardt, and Johnny Madden). One series of photographs shows musicians performing with Lauri Paddi going on tour in the South Island, including two views taken from a car, following a train on the road/rail Rakaia Bridge. Description: Photographs relating to Stuart Gordon's career, taken by various photographers between 1930 and 1989. Includes photograph of Gordon being awarded the Queen's Service Medal by Governor General Paul Reeves at the 1989 investiture ceremony in Wellington, and the accompanying invitation to the ceremony. Also includes two photographs of Gordon and fellow Kiwi Concert Party musicians taken circa 1955 by unidentified photographers, one of which shows a group outside a plane, and the other shows the musicians on stage in front of a painted background. The photographs are accompanied by a note written by the donor, that reads "I think these 2 photos are the Kiwi Concert Party to Korea and Japan around 1955. Johnny Cooper on guitar?"
