Description: Cadastral map, with topographic features, of the Hutt River valley from an area north of the Stokes Valley bridge to the harbour. Includes the road which runs parallel to the river. High Street, Victoria Street, Railway Avenue, and Hutt Road are named. The settlements of Richmond, Aglionby and Britannia are named. Includes numbered sections with owners' names. Clifford, Molesworth, Taine, Park, Child, Alzdorf, Hanson, Stokes, Dr. Evans, Riddiford, Dr. Dorset, Swainson, Barton, Compton, Captain Daniell, Colonel Wakefield, Burcham, Bidwill. Several areas of native reserve are marked as are the sites of a pa, Hughes' House, Masons House, Boulcott's House, Molesworth Farm, Aglionby Arms, Queens Head Inn are marked. Section 24 is shown to be owned by Fitzherbert and section 28 by Richard Barton. Shows the Hutt River's path as at 1881, the main roads, shingle beds, Waiwhetu Road, the town settlement of the eastern side of the river including the Mechanic's Institute, post office, family hotel, Whitewood Hotel, the new bridge's toll house, the new bridge, as well as the Railway Hotel and school house south of the bridge. Description: Cadastral map of part of the Roll Plan 544 held by the District's Office, Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington. Shows the Hutt District and part of the Harbour District and the Lowry Bay District. Each district is divided into numbered 100-acre blocks, listing owner's names, including: Molesworth, Watt, Child, Capt. Daniell, Hanson, Hunter, Wickstead, Capt. Smith, Catchpool, Dr Evans, Kettle, St. Hill, Alzdorf, Riddiford, Stokes, Bidwell, Duppa, G Robins, J Forbes, W Tod, E Dunlop, D Grant, A Tennant, Hart, Partridge, Wieford, Parke, ?Revans, Col. Wakefield, Jackson, Wallace. The map was surveyed by S.C. Brees, who was the principal surveyor for the New Zealand Company. The map shows the original 100 acre blocks as they were surveyed and sold.
