Storm Bird (Ship : 1854-1916)

Iron screw steamer. Built in 1854. Wrecked in 1916. (Information from 'Ships with NZ Association' by Rex Hardy, Vol 11, 35, held in Turnbull Library Pictures). Engaged in the trade between Wellington and Wanganui, frequently carried colonial troops around the coast during the Hauhau wars. She was one of the small transports used in the Opotiki expedition in 1865.
