Description: Contents: Notes on New Zealand; record of three New Zealand Association meetings, 1837 & 1839 (the 1st of which includes impressions of the chief personalities - E G Wakefield, W Hutt, Lord Petre, etc; extract from a pamphlet by Dandeson Coates; conduct of some of the Church missionaries in New Zealand (record of a conversation with Mr McDonald, 1838); New Zealand missionaries & their estates; copy of a letter from Mr Batts dated 20 Jun 1838 - lately returned from New Zealand (original at MS-Papers-3154). The loose pages contain diary entries and notes Jun 1832 & 1837-38; the latter record New Zealand Association negotiations with the British Government, notes relating to colonizing New Zealand, & include `Mr De Ville's opinion of Nayti' [Te Whaiti] (the Maori taken to England).
