New Zealand surrealist painter and music composer. Born at Otaki; studied at Wellington Polytechnic School of Design, 1963. From 1969 showed in numerous one-man and group exhibitions both within New Zealand and abroad; represented in numerous NZ public collections, and private collections in NZ, Australia, United Kingdom and United States. In 2008, Brent abandoned painting to explore music composition, a field that has interested him since the beginning of his painting career.

By: Potton & Burton (Firm)
Reference: MS-Papers-12025
Description: Collection comprises 23 letters from New Zealand artists to Craig Potton Publishing. The correspondence relates to pictorial images from the artists used by the company in its New Zealand art calendars for 1997, 1998 and 1999. Most correspondence is brief and relates to agreeing to participate in the calendars, sending images, and ordering more copies of the calendars; some artists briefly discuss the works they have chosen to submit. Artists include W. A. Sutton, Jane Evans, Nigel Brown, Michael Smither, Robert McLeod, Grahame Sydney, Dick Frizzell, and Albert McCarthy. Two letters are signed with first names only ('Quentin' and 'Gerda'); the content of the letters suggests that they are from Quentin MacFarlane and Gerda Leenards. Title supplied by Library. Potton & Burton was previously Craig Potton Publishing. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Physical Description: Folder containing 23 holograph and typescript letters.
