The biennial Katherine Mansfield Memorial Literary Awards was introduced in 1959 by the Bank of New Zealand and the New Zealand Women Writers' Society in recognition of the importance of Katherine Mansfield to the New Zealand literary arts. This major award is now the Bank of New Zealand Katherine Mansfield Memorial Awards. It is one of four awards collectively known as the Bank of New Zealand Katherine Mansfield Memorial Awards.
