Douglas, Ken, 1935-2022

Worked as a driver for a number of years for H.W. Thomas Carriers of Haining Street, Wellington. Was a union official in the Drivers Union (president) and then with the Federation of Labour and as President of Council of Trade Unions during the period 1958 to 1999. Since retiring from the CTU, Douglas became active in Porirua local politics as a Porirua City Councillor 1998, Porirua Licensing Trustee 2001, and elected member of Capital and Coast District Health Board 2004. He also served on the boards of Air New Zealand, NZ Post, NZ Trade and Enterprise, New Zealand Rugby Union. In 1998 was awarded an Order of New Zealand. Died 14 September 2022, aged 86.
