Description: Material related to Lusk’s attempts to publish his article “Share the dream” and on the television adaptation which aired on Television 1 on Sunday 17 November 1997. The material includes printed out and typescripts letters and notes, handwritten notes, articles, and news clippings. Several letters are annotated by Lusk with further context. Some annotations are dated from 1998 and 2022. Includes correspondence with magazine editors such as Bill Ralston of Metro and Robyn Langwell of North and South. Also includes a signed purchase agreement with Dean Parker for use of the article as basis for a television play, dated 25 August 1996. There are several handwritten and typed letters between Parker and Lusk. Includes a copy of the draft by Dean Parker of the television play, and an annotated reviewed version dated June 1996; also a proposal (or treatment) for the play including Dean Parker's credentials and a copy of the article. Also includes two further print-outs of the “Share the dream” article, one is annotated; a summary of the media treatment of the article by Peter Lusk dated 10 July 1996, and copies of the Worker’s Party of New Zealand publication of the article. Description: `Share the dream; six months on the drier line at Fisher & Paykel' is an account of Lusk's experiences as a temporary worker prior to possible selection as a permanent employee. He describes the company's adherence to total quality management, the techniques employed to gain a cohesive and biddable work force, and his own experiences as he underwent selection and rejection. The piece has been used as the basis of a TV play, and was made a media release but only published by a few political papers. Lusk also analyses the media treatment of his article. Lusk also compares factory pay and conditions in New Zealand and countries where factories have relocated and describes the part unions play in fitting in with management Source of title - Supplied Lusk wrote the article following his experiences at Fisher & Paykel and eventually it became the basis of a play for Montana Sunday Theatre in 1997 with the script written by Dean Parker.
