Description: Photographs documenting the life of William Harrison Pearson, from his childhood, until 1944. Also of his parents, aunts, brothers and sisters. Includes an early photo of his mother, Agnes McLean, and her sisters; the wedding of his parents; brothers and sister, and Bill as a young boy. (Many of these photographs are copies or original prints of images in PAColl-7160); the wedding of his brother Don and Eileen Pearson, 1954; his brother James McLean Pearson in uniform, with his son John in 1949, and other family in 1958. Pearson with the top ten in Standard 3 from Greymouth, 1930; Pearson at Beverly House, Christchurch, 1939, with fellow boarders, in the bath and having a first shave; Presbyterian Bible Class conference, Greymouth, 1939; his friend Margaret Still (formerly Bennett); family of D A J Rutherford and fellow boarders Arthur Knight and Noel Espie at 1 Queen Street, Dunedin, and Dunedin Training College students with Pearson during outings and at dances 1940 and 1941. Photographs taken at the dances show Pearson variously with Nita Crotty, Sheila Diehl, Cath Rawcliffe and Nancy MacKenzie. Description: Contains photographs relating to Christine Cole Catley's student years at New Plymouth Girls' High School (1946-1940) and Canterbury University College (1941-1944). Photographs taken by unknown and various commercial photographers (see names list) between 1936 and 1944, with one image possibly taken ca.1950. Images relating to New Plymouth Girls' High School consist of group portraits of students, including three basketball teams with Catley Canterbury University College images include portraits of Catley with friends and by herself. Also: informal socialising; a float of the `HMS Neverbudge - New Zealand's Last Hope', probably from a capping parade; movie billboard for `I married a witch' (1942) which has been altered to read `I married a bitch'; and formal portrait of the student executive of which Catley was a member. Another set of photographs relate to the University's Drama Society, including images of cast onstage and backstage dressed in Victorian costume. One photograph shows the cast and crew of `Othello' (ca.1944), including Catley, producer Ngaio Marsh and composer Douglas Lilburn, with beer bottles and mugs. Another shows Marsh and the Canterbury Student Players, possibly about to depart on an Australian tour.
