These illustrations were reproduced in New Zealand newspapers during the late 1940s and early 1950s. The newspapers included The Evening Post, Auckland Star, Christchurch Star Sun, Taranaki Herald, Southern Cross, Students' Digest, Greymouth Evening Star, Evening Star (Sports) Dunedin, and the Southland Daily News. Each attendee contributed an illustration or piece of writing. Photographs include a group portrait of those who attended the hui, meals, socialising, and events. In her written account of the hui, Joy Cowley lists participants as follows; "Over Easter 1993, there was a gathering of New Zealand children's writers and illustrators in the Marlborough Sounds with Joy Cowley and Terry Coles. Present were Tessa Duder, William Taylor, Gayleen Gordon (sic), Robyn Belton, Mona Williams, Joan de Hamel, Elsie Locke, Jean Bennett, Diane and Gary Hebley, Alan Bunn, Paula Boock, Jennifer Beck, John Bonallack, Dorothy Butler, Christine Ross, Philip Temple, Pauline Cartwright, Ruth Corrin, Martin Baynton, Diana Noonan, Ged Maybury, Margaret Beames, Trevor Pye, Clare Bowes, Sherryl Jordan, Joanna Orwin, and Bob Kerr."
