Shows the camp, the park, and the students in groups and carrying out activities relating to the practice of surveying. There are photographs of Sir Aston Webb's buildings for the University of Birmingham, some still under construction. These include a tall campanile which can be seen under construction and completed. Three images record the visit of King Edward the 7th in 1909 to open the great hall of the university. Finally the album closes with images of large machines in the university's school of engineering. The University of Birmingham was founded in 1900. The original buildings (shown in this album) were designed by Sir Aston Webb who was also responsable for the street front of Buckingham Palace, the Cromwell Road wing of the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Admiralty Arch in London. Silston Cory-Wright spent two years at the Univerity of Birmingham after serving an apprenticeship in Zurich with the engineering firm Escher Wyss and Company. He came to New Zealand in 1912 to take up a position as lecturer in engineering at Auckland University. He became an expert in the design of hydro electric power stations.
